The Song of Songs has been interpreted in various ways. It has been seen as Hebrew love poetry. It has been seen as an allegory of God’s relationship with Israel. It has also been seen as an allegory of Christ the bridegroom and his church, the bride. This is well explored in the Bible Project overview.

In this prayer station the written text is from The Passion translation and the links to the passages being read are to the NIV. The music for each day is taken from Patrick Hawes’ choral work, the Song of Songs.

As we read, and pray and listen, may our desire be like that of John the Baptist, that Christ will become more and we become less (John 3:30).
